How do I enroll in Medicare?
Medicare will automatically enroll you in Part A if you have received Social Security income for at least three months before turning 65 (otherwise, you can enroll online or by calling the Social Security Administration). If you work past your 65th birthday, you can enroll in Medicare Part B before you leave group coverage. Visit Medicare.gov or call Social Security at (800) 772-1213. Once you apply for Part B, we can review your coverage options with you.
What is the difference between Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplemental insurance?
Medicare Supplemental works with original Medicare to pay deductibles and co-insurance, and a separate Part D drug plan must also be purchased. Because you’re paying a monthly premium there are very few or no copayments for medical care.
A Medicare Advantage plan includes prescriptions, has copayments for hospital visit, outpatient surgery procedures, doctors’ visits and tests. Medicare strictly regulates Advantage plans.
What are the benefits of working with an independent Medicare insurance agent?
Because an independent agent or broker represents you – not the insurance company – your advice can be unbiased.
How much will Medicare cost?
Your payroll taxes have paid for Part A. The monthly Part B premium for 2024 is $174.70.
What help is available for prescription costs?
The Ohio Benefit Bank (OBB) is a public/private initiative that connects people with moderate and lower incomes to support, such as public benefits and tax credits. Visit OhioBenefits.org.
For more information on help paying the costs of Medicare prescription drugs, visit Medicare.gov.
How is Medicare responding to COVID-19?
Medicare’s response to COVID-19 measures (such as lab tests, antibody tests, medically necessary hospitalizations, vaccinations) can change, so for the latest information view their current Coronavirus webpage.
